God's Call in Haiti

by Rodne Romeus

(Editor's note: Brother Romeus, director of AMG ministries in Haiti, presented the following to the AMG staff on July 16, 2007.)

"And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt" (Ex. 3:7-10).

"And the Lord said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him" (Ex. 4:27).

Dear brothers and sisters,

It is a good privilege to present our thanks to God and to tell you how AMG enjoys a great place in our heart. It is also important for me to encourage you in your work for Christ.

In the text that I have just read, we notice that Moses was chosen by God to deliver his people from their taskmasters. They were suffering. Though they worked very hard, they could not eat as they would like to, nor were they free. God was calling Moses to be as director or leader of the people. "Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt."

What a calling! The purpose of this calling was to move the children of Israel out of Egypt.

When I think over the calling of Moses and his task to help his brothers, it is the same as my calling to help take the country of Haiti out of the darkness, out of Voodoo, out of killing, hunger, and sickness. Through this calling, I see a vision to equip the little children, to teach them the gospel, to help them physically with medical care, and to give them education. When they leave our care and return to their homes, they will be able to present the gospel to their families. When they get older, they will be able to share the gospel with their friends. By accepting Jesus, these children can together change the situation of the country, according to the will of God.

In Exodus 4:27, there is something else very interesting: We see that God was calling Aaron to go in order to help Moses in his job.

I consider AMG as Aaron who was placed beside Moses in his job. For example:

AMG is doing a great job for Bethesda Childcare Center, where you are helping relieve the hunger of about 300 students!

AMG is helping give an education to about 800 students in Grand-Bassin and in Camp Coq. By the beginning of September, about one thousand children will be in attendance at both schools.

By the grace of God, AMG makes it possible for more than 40 people to get jobs to be useful to themselves and to their family. Isn't that by the power of our Lord?

In addition, over just the last 9 months:

More than 600 people received medical care.

More than 300 received glasses, making it possible for them to read their Bibles more easily, and in some cases, to preach to others.

98 families received food supplies, consisting of rice, oil, peas, and so on.

Several children now have bicycles to help them get to school.

Some of the children have goats, others have pigs.

Many Bibles have been shared!

How wonderful it is to have you, as Aaron working with Moses! Certainly you will be rewarded greatly in heaven for all your sacrifices and hard work!

What are some other ways that God is moving on in His work?

Half of the Bethesda Medical Center is completed, and only four more rooms must have the roof on.

The well project is well underway.

The school of Grand Bassin is the biggest and the best school of our area. We have more students than all the other schools, and all our students are ready to teach Bible to the others.

In Camp Coq, the school is growing so fast that we already have need of three more class-rooms.

The vision God gave me is being accomplished, thanks to God, and thanks to all of you. I promise to
continue to be faithful to the Lord, even as Moses was always ready to work for his Lord, whatever difficulties he might face. I know it is not easy to raise funds, but nothing is difficult for God. The money sent through AMG or by AMG is accomplishing great things.

So, let's move on as did Moses with Aaron! Let's save the country of Haiti by helping the children over there!
