Columnists & Regular Writers

Spiros Zodhiates (1922-2009) was the longtime president of AMG International and the founder of Pulpit Helps Magazine. His monthly column, "Exegetically Speaking", is selected from his many writings on the books of the New Testament. He has authored numerous commentaries, often drawing on his background as a Greek to bring to light the nuances of the original language of the New Testament.

Wayne Barber has pastored in New Mexico, Kentucky, Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi and Tennessee. He has worked extensively in the past with both AMG International (hosting the TV and radio program New Testament Light with Spiros Zodhiates in the 1980s and 1990s) and Precept Ministries. He has also authored several books and co-authored a series of Bible studies. His column, "Following God" focuses on a practical application of thorough exegesis of the Word.

John Meador has pastored in Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Passionately committed to modern expository preaching, he believes life transformation takes place through the Word itself. John's column, "Transformational Preaching", is focused on exhorting pastors to be faithful expositors of the Word and provides encouragement and strategies to that end,

James Rudy Gray is a board-certified counselor and member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and has been a senior pastor of Southern Baptist churches for over 30 years.  He and his wife Anne have also led marriage and family conferences, retreats, and seminars. Rudy's column, "Counselor's Corner", is designed to shepherd pastors through the often murky waters of counseling their church members with a focus on applying the Word of God to life situations.

Stephen Olford (1918-2004) was a prominent evangelist and pastor whose focus on expositional preaching has impacted hundreds of pastors throughout the world. His son David continued their column, "Points to Ponder" after his death. The column provides the backbone of a classic style expository sermon each month, and serves as a model for sermon preparation to others.

Lindsay Terry is the founder of Forward Leadership Resources and has published numerous books and materials on church growth, Sunday school, and leadership. His passion is for music, particularly the great songs of the faith. Every other month, his "Story Behind the Song" column presents the backstory of a well-known hymn or praise song and brings out a fuller understanding of the power of music to Christians.

Joe McKeever is a preacher, cartoonist, and retired Director of Missions for the Baptist Association of Greater New Orleans. While he did not write a regular column, he was one of our most consistent contributors of excellent, thought-provoking articles as well as his witty cartoons about church life that appeared in each issue.

Ted Kyle was formerly Managing Editor of Pulpit Helps Magazine. He was responsible for gathering material from all our wonderful contributing writers, compiling the news, sermon starters, illustrations, and bulletin inserts. He also contributed editorials and the "Marks of the Master" column under the pen name, The Old Scot.

Justin Lonas is Editor-in-Chief of Pulpit Helps Magazine. He oversees magazine and website content, directs magazine distribution and marketing, and regularly writes editorials, columns and book reviews. His goal is to help readers understand the difference between "doing church" and being followers of Christ. He and his wife Rachel and daughter Canaan reside in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
