Relief Agencies Move into Afghanistan

As the Taliban's grip on Afghanistan continued to crumble, Christian relief organizations moved quickly to help those in need. World Vision is one such group that moved into the city of Herat, helping internally displaced people. "We now have staff inside of Afghanistan and are preparing to do as much as we can, given how little time we have left before severe winter sets in," said World Vision's Dave Taylor.

"The most critical thing is food, so that's the focus, and then the non-food items like blankets and warm clothing." Of the 7 million people in need, the organization plans to help up to 300,000. Taylor is praying that the outreach will result in changed hearts. "In the traditional sense of immediate expectation of change, I think that's unrealistic, but in the sense of identifying values and exemplifying those values, we're able to do a lot."
