On the morning of Sunday, Sept. 23, a Sudanese government Antonov plane dropped six bombs on the outskirts of the village of Dhiak in southern Sudan's Aweil East County. The bombs narrowly missed the local Catholic church, which was full of worshipers. Although there were no casualties, the congregation and other villagers were traumatized by the attack.
Evangelist Abraham Garang, who was preaching in the church when the attack occurred, urged the U.S. to put pressure on the Sudanese government to stop the relentless attacks against Christians and other non-Muslims in the country.
