Afghan Refugee Relief

Last year, Operation Mercy in Tajikistan, known as the Central Asia Development Agency (CADA) was already providing 100 tons of clothing to 150,000 Afghan refugees trapped at the border. CADA has now opened a base in Northern Afghanistan to distribute food and clothing to an initial 75,000 Afghans suffering without shelter or food. Another agency, World Vision, has committed more than 1 million towards relief and Tearfund partners are continuing to provide emergency help at the

borders, with Afghan staff directing the building of 4,200 mud shelters.
