Stewardship of Testimony Challenge

Stewardship of Life Challenges-Part 3

The challenges for the stewardship of time, talent, testimony, and treasure included in this series could be, as the author suggests, gathered together for incorporation with stewardship-emphasis month messages, or spaced throughout the year-whether accompanying sermons or printed in congregational letters. Each challenge is in the form of a pledge designed to be considered by individual members of the church.

Stewardship of Testimony Challenge

God loves me! He provides salvation through Christ (John 3:16); He chose me to salvation; He brought me under the sound of the gospel; He saved me! I could have been abandoned to religion, humanism, lusts, and destruction. "But God . . ." (Eph. 2:4).

God owns me! I have dignity as the temple of God the Spirit (Cor. 6:15-20). He has made me a custodian of His Word-an epistle read by the world around me (2 Cor. 3:2). The Holy Spirit wants to use me to produce spiritual offspring. I am to bear testimony of Christ the Way of Salvation in my daily world.

I am a salt spreader (Matt. 5:13). I am to be a preserving influence of good against the decadence of this world. I must add the flavor of godliness to a tasteless world. My words are to be seasoned with salt, testifying of Christ among men (Col. 4:6).

I am a light reflector (Matt. 5:14). I am to reflect the light of the Sun of Righteousness (Mal. 4:2). I must glisten with the praises of Him who has brought me out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Pet. 2:9) I have to practice maintaining the position of light He has given me in order to bear an enlightening testimony (Eph. 5:8).

I am a fruit bearer (John 15). My constant lifestyle must be characterized as "abiding in Him" in order to bear the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-24). The by-product will be others won to Christ.

I am a seed sower (Ps. 126:6). If I am faithful in sharing God's Word in my world, He promises that others will be born again through my witness (1 Pet. 1:23). I can do that with His enablement.

I am a duplicator (2 Tim. 2:2). I am commanded to study God's Word and become a disciple who will make disciples (Matt. 28:19, 20).

I have read each of the Scripture texts included in this challenge. I understand my God-given stewardship of testimony. Therefore:

____ I will by God's enablement endeavor to win a soul to Christ this year.

____ I will by God's enablement duplicate myself in the church by bringing another person into membership through discipleship.

____ I will inform the pastor that I am ready to be a personal discipler and accept the prepared teaching materials.

____ I will begin a Bible study for the unsaved in my home. Pastor will provide the study materials and guidance that I need.
