Encouragement for Willie Wormwood

Willie, you are just like the rest of us. Most don’t want to acknowledge shortcomings but we all fall short (probably more than we even know). Let me offer as comfort that the changing is not up to you. If you have received Jesus as your personal Savior, He will perfect you, in that, “...he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6). This is a mystery: “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col 1:27). So if Christ in you is going to perform the work, what is left for you to do? Enter into His rest (see Heb. 4). There is no more work for you to do. Your salvation is sure and everlasting. That means you cannot lose it.

If your behavior is all that’s bothering you, renew your mind. How do you live up to Jesus’ standards? “Do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God” (Mic. 6:8). Read the Word. Pray. Fast. Love. Don’t do any of these things for or to change.  Do them to honor God for His great works toward man. When people talk about you, pray for them because you know that God loves them also even as He loves you. You cannot change what others say but you are in control of your responses. Thank God that you are noticed. It will give God even more glory when He accomplishes His work through and in you.
