Welcome to 2003 - I think!

by Bob Dasal

What will the New Year bring? What will it bring to you, your family and your church? The Washington Times gives some predictions for 2003 that are anything but cheerful. A lot of negative Washington politics! Deficit spending by the Federal Government will top $300 billion. Extreme volatility in the stock market! They predict two major terrorist attacks. The flow of oil will be temporarily slowed or stopped by world events. The fall of Saddam Hussein will trigger uprisings in at least two Middle East countries. The good news for Christians is all our hopes and expectations are not found in the pages of the Washington Times, but in the pages of God's Word, the Bible. Here are just a few of the Lord promises that fully apply to my today and all my tomorrows: " I am with you alway." [Matt 28:20] "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shall go: I will guide thee with mine eye." [Psalms 32:8] "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him." [Jeremiah 17:7] 2003 will bring many things into my life. Some of it will be good and some not good. I know, as a born-again believer, the certainty of His promise to abide with me. And because I have placed my full confidence in Him for guidance and strength I have "no fear" of what the year may bring. So I excitedly embrace 2003 and the opportunities it presents to share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
